Colic Work-up
“Colic” is a term used to describe any abdominal pain in horses. Signs of colic include laying down, rolling, pawing or biting at flanks. Horses may also refuse to eat or walk and may sweat excessively even though they are not exercising. If you notice any of these symptoms, call your veterinarian immediately. Even if the cause of colic is not life threatening, rolling can cause intestines to twist and may make something simple into a serious problem. At Riverstone, our doctors are trained in diagnosing and treating colics in the field, and our ambulatory trucks are equipped with all the tools necessary to help your horse find relief.
